Directions to the dive site will be distributed when we meet at the shop on Saturday morning. Treasure Island is about 45 minutes north of the shop. Hunting is permitted and it is a popular dive spot for scuba divers and free divers alike. Bring 2 tanks as we plan on doing 2 shore dives.

We dove at a beach called Treasure Island in Laguna Beach. We saw plenty of large bass, garibaldi, blacksmith and lots of rock scallops. There were a fair number of free divers spear fishing on the reefs. Adrian said had a close encounter with a very large octopus, we never saw it and that may just be the fisherman in him telling the story. Visibilty was 10-12 feet with a slight surge. It may not sound like ideal conditions but we have had worse conditions on previous shore dives this summer. There is a very nice grassy park above the beach and we all thought this would make for a great club dive. The only negative to this site is lack of parking but that is pretty much standard for SoCal beaches. I think with a bit of planning we could pull off a great club outing. This spot is definitely on our list for a return visit.
